Stonefruit

Over 800 hectares (1,977 acres) of stone fruit are grown in the Lower Elbe Region. The sweet cherry makes up the largest share of stone fruit at 500 hectares (1,235 acres).
Tree pruning, plant protection, fertilization and planning of new orchards make up the core themes of stone fruit consulting. Planning of new orchards has become a complex undertaking over the years. Site selection, tree spacing, fruit varieties and pollinators need to be considered in addition to irrigation, frost and rain protection and marketing channels.
